On October 21, 2024, CARM will be fully launched. It will become the official system for the collection of duties and taxes for goods imported into Canada. Registration will become mandatory in order to import commercial goods into the country. Importers will also be required to obtain a Release Prior to Payment (RPP) bond within 180 days of the go-live date.

It was announced Friday that CBSA will not be rolling out CARM phase 2 to trade chain partners on May 13th, instead they are projecting for October 2024. This is due to ongoing labour action.
